Efforts are put on the minimization of the heat load on the button by optimizing the longitudinal impedance and the BPM materials. To validate the mechanical design and tolerances a first prototype has been manufactured and controlled. This paper presents the mechanical design of the BPM, the metrology of the prototype and the lessons learned from this prototyping phase.
